Security & Access
Notice 2016 No 3.
The Association’s Management Committee uses every opportunity to emphasise that the security of the complex, its residents and their property is of paramount importance.
The Conduct Rules focus attention on the fact that residents are individually responsible for the security of their property and collectively responsible for the security of the complex as a whole.
With this in mind, it is necessary to remind all Members and residents that official procedures or systems are in place that govern the access of, amongst others, contractors to the complex. All residents or their contractors are to complete the application document for access to the complex and in the process sign for acceptance of the Association’s security protocols which exist. The owner/resident remains responsible for the conduct of the contractor entering the complex and visiting the property in question. Should a contractor be in contravention of any of the applicable protocols, the Management Committee reserves the right to refuse access to that particular individual. The security personnel have the delegated authority to refuse entry to any person if in their discretion such refusal is in the interest of the residents of Summerwood.
There is from time to time the tendency of certain residents to personally convey their contracted staff to their residence or to allow their contractor the use of the access remote which they have acquired. When a contractor by any of the two afore-mentioned means gains entry to the complex through the residents’ entrance, the security personnel have very little control of their movements in the village or that of their staff. This practice negatively affects the standard of security which the Committee strives to achieve. Further problems could arise when problematic events, which may in an incidental manner occur at the time when such a particular contractor or his staff were present in the complex, need to be investigated.
Members/residents are requested to assist with the maintenance of the security of the Summerwood complex by ensuring that their contractors are at all times recorded by way of the completion of the required documentation.
